Stop Fighting Your Infrastructure: Inside the New OpenShift Evolution
See what's next for the cloud application platform. This video shows how Red Hat OpenShift® has evolved to help developers innovate across hybrid cloud environments, with advances in agentic AI, modern virtualization, next-generation security, and developer velocity. Watch the video to see how Red Hat OpenShift supports innovation across hybrid cloud.
What is changing with the new evolution of Red Hat OpenShift?
The latest evolution of Red Hat OpenShift is about helping teams move ideas forward without getting stuck in infrastructure details. OpenShift has grown from its 2011 roots into a cloud application platform that works consistently across major providers such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud.
In practice, this means you can:
- Run a common platform across multiple clouds and on-premises, supporting a true hybrid cloud approach.
- Give developers more direct, “sovereign” control over their environments, so they can deploy and iterate faster.
- Bridge traditional virtual machines with cloud-native containers, reducing friction as you modernize existing workloads.
Overall, OpenShift is reimagining how infrastructure supports application delivery, so your teams can focus more on building and less on managing underlying systems.
How does OpenShift use AI to keep applications running smoothly?
OpenShift now includes agentic AI integration through the OpenShift Intelligent Assistant, designed to support day-to-day operations and reliability.
The Intelligent Assistant can:
- Provide real-time diagnosis of issues in your clusters and applications.
- Suggest automated remediations to keep deployments running without interruption.
- Help teams respond faster to incidents by surfacing likely root causes and next steps.
For developers, OpenShift also supports cloud development environments powered by leading LLMs like Gemini and Claude. Combined with tools such as DevSpaces and GitOps workflows, this helps increase developer velocity by making it easier to code, test, and deploy directly in the cloud.
What security and virtualization benefits does OpenShift provide?
The new OpenShift capabilities focus on both stronger security and more flexible virtualization.
Security highlights include:
- Zero CVE images to reduce known vulnerabilities in container images.
- Confidential computing to protect data even while it is being processed.
- OpenShift sandboxed containers for stronger workload isolation.
- Post-quantum cryptography to prepare for emerging security threats.
Virtualization benefits include:
- Modern virtualization that builds a bridge between traditional virtual machines and cloud-native containers.
- The ability to avoid vendor lock-in by running VMs and containers on a common OpenShift platform, rather than being tied to a single proprietary stack.
Together, these capabilities help teams rethink how they secure and run both legacy and modern workloads, while keeping options open across different infrastructure providers.
